A website, many ways to cross London!

Have a look at maps and prices...

About the tube

The tube is really expensive (2£ the single for zone 1 only) and slowest than the French tube. But this is often the quickest way to go somewhere. Buying week Oyster cards, you can save money, in addition don't forget to ask about the student transport card at the UCL to have more reduction on your transport cards. You will hear "Stand clear of the closing doors", in fact, doors are closing very quickly, so take care about those.

About the bus

You can prefer the Bus, it cost around 1£ for a single trip and only 2.5£ for the day for the zone 1 to 4. The Bus is often slow and could be stock in the traffic jam. But you are not stock in the dark tube you can look London through the windows. If the bus is too crowdy, driver will not stop to take new passengers ! I advise you to take the bus before if you have an important date ! Moreover there are buses everywhere, after some time you will know the main lines and the time to go from a point to another.

In addition the red buses have a certain charm because it's typical from London . There are Bus all the day and the night. A good way to save money if you go out the night is to take the one day ticket (2.5£) which allow you to take the Bus all the day AND the night (your ticket will be out of date at 4h30 AM) finally the cheapest way to travel is to walk. And that's a good way to discover London ! So don't forget you are young and buy good shoes.

About taxis

If you want to travel in a London cab, be aware about prices ! It's a funny way to travel, because of the fame of those taxis, but it's not cheaper as Paris ones ! If you really have to take one, try to share it with 3 or 4 friends of you, it could be better to share price !
